The Guarantors of Brain Prize for excellence in translational neuroscience is a new initiative that aims to recognise an active neuroscience researcher in the UK for their sustained and ongoing contribution to translational neuroscience.
The prize is an unrestricted cash prize of £25,000.
Guarantors of Brain is a registered charity that promotes teaching, education and research into the science of neurology and related clinical-academic disciplines, and the furthering of other scientific and charitable purposes.
The Guarantors of Brain Prize will be awarded every 2 years and is open to any active researcher, clinical or non-clinical, in the UK working in translational neuroscience i.e. neurology and related clinical and academic disciplines. The prize will reward sustained excellence in translational neuroscience research and candidates are expected to be internationally leading in their field.
Potential candidates need to be nominated by two active neuroscience researchers in the UK (lead and secondary nominators) from two different UK institutions. Nominators do not need to be Guarantors of Brain. Nominations will open bi-annually in April with a deadline for submission by the end of July the same year. The successful candidate will be notified in December, and the prize will be awarded in person at the annual Brain Conference in March the following year, with the winner being invited to give a talk at the conference. This prize is an unrestricted research prize and is funded in the same way as all Brain charity activities i.e. by profits generated from the publication of the journals Brain and Brain Communications, plus books.
Applications should be submitted by the lead nominator and should include the following materials:
